Guji Koromii • Ethiopia • Organic
The 27 farmers who are members of the Koromii Farmers Group cultivate coffee in the Guji region of Ethiopia, which is known as the birthplace of the coffee plant and has an excellent microclimate for coffee production.
They mainly produce the coffee variety JARC 74112, which sounds a bit artificial, but it stands for Jimma Agricultural Research Centre. It's a naturally occuring variety that was discovered in 1974 and singled out for further cultivation because of its resistance to disease, yield and delicious flavour profile.
The farmers in Koromii all practice traditional coffee farming, which means organic farming and growing other food crops together with coffee. This method is common amongst tiny smallholder farms because it makes the most use out of their land and allows them to grow food for their families and coffee to sell.
In this Natural-processed coffee, expect flavours of:
Candied mandarin, red berries, black tea.
